Coach, Aleah Ross, MSc (she/her)

Aleah has always had a passion for human and health psychology.

As a young athlete, Aleah was always curious about the relationship between mindset and performance. With more questions than answers, she began an educational and professional journey which continues to this day. Aleah is a passionate, lifelong learner who loves to bring evidence into real-world practice among people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Education and Training

Aleah completed her BSc in Combined Biopsychology from the University of Victoria (UVic; B.C., CAN) in 2015, giving her a foundation in biological and social sciences. Between her Bachelors and Masters studies, Aleah took continuing education from the UVic and University of British Columbia in clinical, developmental and counselling psychology. Now, she will be graduating from UVic with her MSc in Kinesiology, Concentration: Behavioural Medicine in June of this year! As part of this training, Aleah has grown skills translating research to the real world and also designing, implementing and coaching behavioural interventions. In 2022, Aleah was accepted into doctoral studies in Clinical Psychology at UVic. She continues to train in experimental and clinical psychology disciplines with a focus on health psychology.

Aleah also brings to her coaching a host of interdisciplinary interests and experience in health promotion beyond post-secondary. Professionally, she has spent over 10 years as a group fitness coach. Simultaneously, Aleah has provided clinical community services in the private sector, and health administration and research services in the public health system in Canada.

Coaching Philosophy

Aleah is the first to share her gratitude for the range of educational and professional work experiences she has been exposed to in psychology, sport and exercise, public health promotion, and more. Her aim is always to apply this wealth of expertise to work with clients on real-world solutions to challenges they face in the health and wellness space. Aleah is a compassionate, knowledgeable, and practical coach.

Her health philosophy mixes sociocognitive and systems theory approaches. This means she believes in the power of the individual to practice awareness and cultivate change for themselves, while also considering the macro level factors that impact health behavior change.

Aleah is a strong and compassionate listener who is devoted to improving the physical and mental health of people and communities.

Personal Life

Aleah is a dog mom, researcher, islander (Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada), and ocean lover. Just as she wants to instill agency in you, she embraces healthy living on her own terms. When she is not working to support clients or studying, you will likely find her on a beach walk with her pup and partner.
